SpaceComm Sim
A Delay Tolerant Networking simulator for space communications, in the browser.
In space, you can’t assume connectivity. Links come and go with orbital mechanics: contact windows open for minutes, then close for hours. The internet’s usual assumptions break down, which is where Delay Tolerant Networking comes in. Instead of dropping traffic when there’s no path, DTN stores it and forwards it whenever an opportunity appears.
SpaceComm Sim lets you build scenarios like that and watch them play out: satellites and ground stations, contact plans, bundles hopping node to node as links open. It’s a hands-on way to develop intuition for how store-and-forward networking behaves under real orbital constraints.
Under the hood it’s Rust compiled to WebAssembly with the simulation running in the browser, no server round-trips. As a member of IPNSIG, the Internet Society Interplanetary Chapter, I built it to make interplanetary networking ideas tangible.
